Residential Snow Grading Continues

For Immediate Release:  February 8, 2010
IS10-054

City crews are continuing to grade (not remove) snow on streets in residential areas, as required. During residential grading, crews push snow into ridges (windrows) along the curbs. Every effort is made to keep driveways and disabled zones clear, but sometimes already-cleared sidewalks and driveways get covered. The City of Saskatoon apologizes for any inconvenience, and asks for the understanding and co-operation of residents to help out with these extra snow clearing efforts.

Residents are reminded that cleared snow should be placed on your property, not on the road. Throwing or shovelling snow onto the roadway makes driving unsafe, and is in violation of City of bylaws. Residents are reminded to please exercise caution and care when shovelling, especially during very cold weather.

Winter road maintenance equipment is large and slow moving. Motorists are reminded to please use caution when passing.

Information on the City’s Snow and Ice Program is available at www.saskatoon.ca or by calling 975-2491.
