Purpose: The function of the Committee is to monitor and provide advice to City Council on issues relating to the Cultural Diversity and Race Relations Policy.
Reporting Relationship: The Committee reports to the Planning and Operations Committee. Contact Person:

Composition: The Committee consists of 18 members appointed by Council. The membership shall be appointed in such a way as to ensure that at least 50% is made up of members who are representatives of visible minorities.
The Committee shall include:
- One member of the Board of Education - Saskatoon Public Schools;
- One member of the Board of Education - Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools;
- The Chief of Police or his designate;
- One member of the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association;
- One member of the Saskatoon Health Region;
- One representative from the Metis community;
- One representative from the First Nations community;
- One representative from the Community Resources Department;
- One representative from the Department of Corrections and Public Safety;
- Up to eight representatives from the general public; and
- Up to two City Councillors.
Qualifications:
- A level of community involvement on related issues;
- Demonstrated commitment to improving race relations in the community;
- Knowledge and understanding of the concepts;
- Ability to commit time to attend meetings and other activities
Term: Members sit for terms of 1-2 years, depending on their representation.
Meetings: The Committee meets six time per year, on Thursdays. Meetings for 2012 will be held on:
