Looking in the Mirror: A Reflection on Racism
Due to the overwhelming positive response to last year's 'White Like Me' presentation, the City of Saskatoon has partnered with SIAST and Turning the Tide Bookstore to bring renowned anti-racism educator Tim Wise back to Saskatoon on March 15, 2012.
A fiery speaker and prolific author, Wise candidly deconstructs race and privilege. With passion and humour, he challenges his audiences to acknowledge privilege and dismantle racism in their organizations and everyday lives.
To mark the 46th Annual International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Wise will be giving two lectures in Saskatoon:

Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in North America, and has been called "one of the most brilliant, articulate and courageous critics of white privilege in the nation" by best-selling author and professor Michael Eric Dyson. Wise has spoken at campuses, community groups and public events across North America and has provided anti-racism training to a variety of groups including teachers, physicians, government officials, journalists and military and law enforcement officials. The author of six books, including the highly acclaimed White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, Wise was named one of "25 Visionaries Who are Changing Your World" by Utne Reader in 2010. His forthcoming book, Dear White America: Letter to a New Minority, will be released in January 2012.
