“It doesn't matter what age you are, you can still become a lifeguard as long as you have the skills, are physically fit and want to be a leader.”

Working as a lifeguard is a great opportunity for people of all ages to earn an above-average wage. It's also a great way to learn a wide range of skills and take on responsibilities that will not only look good on a résumé, but will serve you well throughout life. Training and experience as a lifeguard can also provide an excellent boost for those considering a career in nursing, education, emergency response teams (paramedics, police, fire, RCMP), recreation management or other health science fields.
City of Saskatoon lifeguards benefit from excellent career growth potential, from part-time positions after school and in the summer months, to full-time positions that lead to aquatics supervision opportunities.
No matter how deep you wade into it, being a lifeguard will always offer a rewarding, and fun atmosphere.

To enter the City of Saskatoon’s Lifeguard Quest Program, you’ll need to have successfully completed your Red Cross Swim Level 7, and be between the ages of 10 and 18 years.
If you’re younger than 10, or still working on a lower Red Cross Swim Level, we encourage you to keep striving to improve your skills. We are always looking for new candidates to begin training to be a lifeguard.
