The Saskatoon Kids Club Scavenger Hunt has made for a wonderful summer! I enjoyed visiting so many places right here in Saskatoon that I decided to share my Top 10 summer hot spots for you and your parents to try squeeze in this year (or plan for next year)!
1. Play 9 holes of golf a
Silverwood. The Family Special let’s you golf for FREE (must be 14 & under) when you’re accompanied by a minimum of one playing adult.
2. Climb aboard the miniature train or go for a spin on your favourite hand-crafted animal on the old fashioned carousel at
Kinsmen Park Rides. At Kinsmen Park Rides, your parents can ride for FREE! (One adult receives free admission per ride when accompanied by one child with a paid admission.)
3. Enjoy a picnic at
Kinsmen Play Village with your family or go for a splash in the supervised paddling pool.
4. Attend Summer Slam. It is a one-day event held in June a Lions Skate Park. This event features music, skateboard demonstrations and free food and prizes!
5. Drop-in for free games, music, drama, special events, arts and crafts, water play, and storytelling at the
playground program in your neighbourhood.
6. Get hooked on fishing and try to catch a big one at the
Forestry Farm Park Fishing Pond!
7. Check out the McDonald’s Natural Place to Play Playground at
Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo. It is an accessible playground that incorporates animal, insect and bird elements.
8. Take advantage of one of the seven FREE
Skate boarding sites open from 8:00 am to dusk daily.
9. Check out the 300 + animals that make their home at the
zoo. You’ll see indigenous species such as bison, lynx and wolves living along side exotic reptiles, birds & monkeys.
10. Enjoy George Ward, Lathey & Riversdale
outdoor pools. Loonie (individual admission) & Toonie (family admission) swimming times are from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday to Thursday.
Don’t forget, there are still 4 more weeks of fun times left with the Saskatoon Kids Club Scavenger Hunt. I’m at the second last location now...Mystery Location #5. Some of the special things at the mystery location include: giant inflatable toys including a zoom slide, an iceberg, and a climbing wall, whirl pools & sauna, fitness room, swimming pools & tot pool! Do you know where I am? The hours for this mystery location are: Mon – Fri: 6:00 am-9:00 pm & Sat & Sun 12:00 pm-8:00 pm.
Also, congratulations to Logan Zdunich! He was the winner of the “Old-Time Favourites” prize package which we made the draw for after I left Kinsmen Park Rides (Mystery Location #4). Logan will get to enjoy fun “take-you-back-to-the-past” items, including old-fashioned popcorn and ice cream makers, pogo stick, kite, skipping rope, side walk chalk & yoyo.
