City Planning & Urban Design
City Centre Plan
A multi-phased initiative to gather data, prepare a Master Plan for the Civic Plaza Precinct, and to create a new Downtown Plan.

Downtown Design Study
In 1981, a comprehensive Downtown Design Study was undertaken which focussed on the urban design aspects of Saskatoon’s Downtown.

Downtown Plan
In 1989, the City of Saskatoon adopted a comprehensive Downtown Plan which was comprised of a report and poster summary of recommendations.

Downtown Plan Poster and Website
In 2000, the Downtown Plan poster was updated and a new website was developed to serve as a central point of contact for all policies and programs related to the Downtown. The website includes references and links to heritage, housing, traffic and parking, urban design, warehouse district and links to the River Landing website, to name a few. The website is now out of date.

25th Street Extension
The 25th Street Extension project is a high priority within the City and underground servicing work is commencing in 2010 , subject to railways approval, with completion of the street in 2012. Urban Design have a design and funding role for the implementation of an enhanced Streetscape plan.

City Cycling Network
A new Downtown Bike Friendly Program was approved in 2009 and improvements are underway. Update to be completed mid 2010.

Transit
Transit Service Study
Look at how to service the downtown core, and how to service a city of 400,000. the future of a downtown transit terminal will be reviewed in this study.
