The Business License Program has two licensing categories:
- Commercial Business Licenses
- Home Based Business Licenses
Which category applies to your business?
Commercial business licenses are issued to businesses that operate from commercial or industrial zoned districts in Saskatoon. If you do not maintain a commercial location and operate a business from your residence, you are categorized as a home based business.
Application Forms
Application forms are available for pickup from the Planning and Development Branch on the 3rd Floor, City Hall, or on the website.
Fees
Business license application and renewal fees are listed in the table below. There is no fee to change a business name or ownership, but an application form must be submitted indicating the changes to the business information.

Applications are reviewed for compliance with land use regulations. Please note that this is an application only; if your application is approved you will receive written confirmation by mail, along with your business license in approximately 7 to 10 business days. Your application has not been approved until you receive your business license from the Planning and Development Branch. Being granted a City of Saskatoon Business License does not relieve the applicant from complying with all municipal bylaws, or with provincial or federal legislation.
