The Research section of the Planning and Development branch maintains a wealth of demographic data on the City of Saskatoon and Saskatoon neighbourhoods. Most demographic data such as population, income, age, language, and education are taken from Census data. This data has been summarized in the publication Neighbourhood Profiles for over 30 years.

The Research section also provides links to other sources of information such as: the Ministry of Health population data, real estate sales, housing starts and completion data and building permit data. The Mapping and Research section also provides population estimates for the City of Saskatoon twice a year (June and December) and updated population projections approximately every three years.
