The Mapping and Research section is involved in a number of research partnerships with city staff and community organizations. This section is currently involved in two main research projects: the Community-University Institute for Social Research’s (CUISR) Quality of Life project and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Quality of Life Reporting System. Both of these projects are described below.
Community-University Institute for Social Research’s (CUISR) Quality of Life Project
The overall goal of CUISR is to build the capacity of researchers, community-based organizations and citizenry to enhance community quality of life in Saskatoon. Three quality of life surveys have been carried out (2001, 2004, 2007). Bill Holden, Senior Planner with the City of Saskatoon, is co-director of CUISR. Visit the CUISR website for all the latest reports.
Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Quality of Life Reporting System
The City of Saskatoon is a member of the FCM QOLRS. The QOLRS measures, monitors and reports on the quality of life in Canadian urban municipalities using data from a variety of national and municipal sources. Visit the FCM website for all the latest reports.
