Future Growth
The Future Growth section works to balance the environmental, social, and economic needs of the community through long-term planning.  This section is responsible for managing and implementing the City’s Official Community Plan; coordinating the Future Growth Strategy Group; preparing sector plans and concept plans for future City growth and major infill developments; and administering the Naming Advisory Committee.

The Future Growth section also works with other governments that have land use interests in Saskatoon and on the rural-urban fringe.  The section works jointly with the Rural Municipality of Corman Park to manage land use and development in the Saskatoon Planning District.  The section is also working to strengthen the City's relationships with First Nations that may be creating or developing a Reserve in or near Saskatoon.

Demographics and Housing Data
A wealth of demographic data is available for the City and neighbourhoods such as population, income, age, language, education and much more.  This data has been summarized in the publication Neighbourhood Profiles for over 30 years.  Links to other sources of information are also provided such as: the Ministry of Health population data, real estate sales, and housing starts and completion data.  Population estimates and projections for the City of Saskatoon are also available.

Research Projects
The Business License, Mapping and Research Section is currently involved in two main research projects: the Community-University Institute for Social Research’s (CUISR) Quality of Life project and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Quality of Life Reporting System.

Maps
Mapping and GIS (geographic information system) services are available to internal and external clients.  Mapping products include: zoning and address maps, neighbourhood boundary maps, projected growth concept maps and many more.

News

Proposed Boundary Alteration
The City is proposing to alter its boundaries, effective January 1, 2010, to include land that is currently within the Rural Municipality (RM) of Corman Park. The proposed boundary alteration will provide for the City of Saskatoon to grow to the north, east and northeast, which is consistent with the “Future Growth of Saskatoon” study adopted by City Council in 2000. Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw Review
The Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw Review involves a review and update of the City’s Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw. For up to date information on this project please click Here.
