South East Concept Plan Project Update
The South East Concept Plan is well underway with the consultants in the process of finalizing the Background Report, compiling interview data and workshop feedback that will all contribute to the content of the concept plan. We anticipate the consultants will host the planned open house sometime in July to present the proposed Concept Plan for the area.
Be sure to check back for event details.
A Workshop Summary has been provided by the consultant here.
An Online Survey was also conducted, the results of which are summarized here.
The Winter 2012 Newsletter also contains project updates.
The South East Concept Plan is the first of several concept plans for the Planning District to be pursued under the joint supervision of City and RM staff.
The purpose of this project is to develop a Concept Plan for the South East quadrant of the Planning District. Concept Plans provide a framework for growth by identifying future land uses, major road networks, and other services. The Study Area is bounded by Highway 16 to the east, Range Road 3052 to the west, Saskatoon to the north, and the Planning District boundary to the south. The District Planning Commission will act as the Steering Committee for this project.
The concept plan will identify:
-
opportunities and challenges for development
-
environmental and heritage features
-
existing land uses
-
existing and proposed infrastructure and services
-
nature of local development pressures
The project began in August and will take approximately one year to complete.
The completion of Concept Plans for the various areas of the Planning District is a key part of the proactive planning framework set out in the new Official Community Plan for the Planning District.

Please note – this map has recently changed (April 2012) with a reduction in the number of concept plan areas, though the area covered remains the same. The number of concept plans, the boundaries for the individual areas and the order in which the plans will be completed is flexible and subject to change.
