Parking Permits

Starting in 1999, the City of Saskatoon implemented residential parking permit zones for neighbourhoods that see high levels of transient parking. This program allows qualifying residents who live within the parking zone to buy a permit to park longer than the posted time limits (normal parking restrictions continue to apply).  "Visitor" and "Temporary" permits are also available.

For more information about the parking permit program, including maps of the residential parking zones, please look under "Parking" in the City Services Directory, or see the Parking Services Group web page.

Purchasing a Residential Parking Permit:
Permits can be purchased from Customer Service, on the main floor at City Hall (222-3rd Avenue North). Cash or debit card only; credit cards will not be accepted. All applicants will be required to provide proof that they reside within the Residential Parking Permit Zone by providing a current driver's license and vehicle registration, along with any one of the following documents:
  • utility bill,
  • lease agreement,
  • SaskEnergy bill,
  • SaskTel bill, or
  • cable bill.
Vehicle Ownership

Applicants will be required to prove vehicle ownership by providing a current Saskatchewan certificate of motor vehicle registration for the vehicle registered to the applicant. If the applicant is not the registered owner, but is the principal operator, the applicant must sign an Affidavit declaring that the applicant is the principal operator of the vehicle (i.e. a parent owns the vehicle but the child is the principal operator). An applicant operating an employer-owned vehicle must provide proof of employment with the business that owns the vehicle (i.e. business card or letter on company letterhead). An out-of-province student applicant must provide a valid out-of-province vehicle registration and a student registration form or student card.

Fees:
  • Residential permit: $25.00
  • Visitor Permit:
    • $5.00 if in addition to a residential permit
    • $25.00 if in place of a residential permit
  • Temporary – $1.00 per day

Residential and Visitor permit fees are prorated to half-cost if the permit is issued six months after the anniversary date.

If you move, dispose of the vehicle for which the permit was issued, or if your permit is lost or stolen, you must notify the City.
