Over 80 percent of municipal information has a spatial component that can be displayed in a Geographic Information System (GIS). The CGIS section is responsible to support the improvement of business processes throughout the Corporation that would benefit from GIS, by working with clients to develop business solutions that will permit the sharing of information in an accurate and timely manner for the benefit of our partners, our customers and our community. 

The CGIS section is responsible for setting Corporate GIS related standards and determining Corporate GIS direction and vision.  The section supports the use of GIS software and the development of GIS related business applications for the collection, storage, analysis, and display of information including Internet and Intranet browser based applications.  The section also coordinates the licensing, release and sale of digital GIS data to the public, vendors and Consultants.

  This Team provides expertise in determining GIS architecture and standards to ensure information is maintained and shared across the Corporation. The team is also responsible for change management, application development and GIS software implementation and support.

  This Team works closely with internal and external clients in identifying business needs and opportunities to use GIS in supporting their data collection, storage, analysis and reporting requirements that leads to improved service delivery to the community.
  
  
• GIS Data Maintenance
  This Team maintains core and primary databases that are the foundation of a successful GIS system.
