Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services is proud of its ongoing commitment to education. Information on fire and life safety is accessible to people of all ages. From January to March 2007, more than 400 elementary school students took part in Fire Station Tours and over 7000 people attended our presentations on various topics.
The NFPA's Learn Not To Burn program has been a popular part of the curriculum in all Saskatoon schools for many years now. Through the program children learn about the dangers of fire and how to react should a fire ever happen in their home. Community Relations staff compliment Learn Not to Burn with their own presentations on fire safety, home escape planning and river safety.
Fire Station tours are currently conducted out of Fire Hall # 6 located at 3309 Taylor Street. This is the location of the Budz-Guenter Memorial Trailer; a mobile home involved in a house fire in 1986. The trailer was donated to SFPS to promote fire prevention. As students walk through this trailer they are reminded to Crawl Low Under Smoke and to Plan Two Ways Out of a building.
