The Occupational Health and Safety Branch provides resources in health and safety to all of the departments as well as the boards and commissions within the City of Saskatoon corporate structure. The employees working in the OHS Branch include the Occupational Health and Safety Manager, Health and Safety Superintendents, Occupational Health Consultants and a Health Promotion Consultant.
The City of Saskatoon has a Corporate Safety Management System which focuses on leadership and communication, hazard and accident prevention initiatives, health and safety related training, work observations, safety inspections, incident investigation, healthy workplace and wellness initiatives, ergonomic assessments and recommendations as well as attendance support for managers and supervisors. The Health Management System (HMS) is a program which manages illness and injury from the first day right through to return to full duties or accommodation in an alternate job or duties and any support required. The HMS also includes the Attendance Support Program and Disability Assistance Program. The OHS Branch is also responsible for processing all workers’ compensation claims and provides support in all modified work programs for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
