Flower Regulations and Monument Information 

WINTER WREATHS PROGRAM

Winter wreaths are now available for purchase and placement on a gravesite at Woodlawn Cemetery. The 12-inch wreaths cost $50 each and are made of fresh mixed evergreens and decorated with acorns and bows.

 GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Disinterment information is available from the Woodlawn Cemetery Administration Office.
  2. Interments in the cemetery require the use of an approved burial vault which can be purchased from the City of Saskatoon through Woodlawn Cemetery.
  3. The City of Saskatoon administers the Memorial Tree Program. Applications and additional information may be obtained at the Woodlawn Cemetery Administration Office.
  4. The annual "Decoration Day" program is normally held on the third Sunday of August, however, confirmation of the date can be obtained through the Woodlawn Cemetery Administration Office.
  5. The City of Saskatoon assumes no responsibility for missing or damaged vases, flowers or other items placed in the cemetery. It is the family's responsibility to ensure all vases, in flat marker sections, are inverted into the marker prior to winter.

FLORAL REGULATIONS

  1. Artificial flowers placed on graves from October 16th until April 30th each year will only be removed as necessary to accommodate interments.
  2. Any items placed in the cemetery from May 1st until October 15th each year will be picked up and disposed of weekly by cemetery staff.
  3. Real cut flowers or potted plants in unbreakable containers (other than glass) can be placed on the turf area of graves anytime. However, these items are considered temporary and are routinely picked up and disposed of by City staff to accommodate maintenance.
  4. Flowers placed on a grave following the burial will be left on for seven calendar days. Anytime after this period they will be picked up and disposed of.
  5. Flower beds for annual flowers only are permitted in all sections except designated Field of Honour (Military) sections. For allowable dimension, please contact the Woodlawn Cemetery Administration Office.
  6. The City of Saskatoon assumes no responsibility for missing vases, flowers, wreaths or other items placed in the cemetery.
  7. The City of Saskatoon reserves the right to plant all perennial flowers, shrubs and trees.

MONUMENT INFORMATION

  1. The marking of graves with a permanent monument is completely optional.
  2. The installation of flat markers and the foundations for upright monuments are completed on a seasonal basis from approximately May 1st until September 30th.
  3. Applications for the installation of monuments and flat markers can be made at any time through a monument dealer or in person at the Woodlawn Cemetery Administration Office.
  4. An individual can manufacture their own monument provided they first get an application, and it is approved at the Woodlawn Cemetery Administration Office.
  5. Generally, monuments can be placed on graves by the first summer following the burial.
  6. The installation of flat markers and foundations for upright monuments will not take place until the gravesite is suitably landscaped.
  7. MONUMENTS ARE PLACED IN THE CEMETERY AT THE OWNER'S RISK, AND THE CITY OF SASKATOON ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS DUE TO VANDALISM.
