The City of Saskatoon’s Sanitary Sewer System includes various components such as piping, manholes and force mains, while the Storm Sewer System includes various components such as piping, manholes, catch basins, ditches, culverts, stream beds and storm retention ponds.
The Water and Sewer Section is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, rehabilitation and inspection of the existing sanitary sewer and storm sewer collection infrastructures. This consists of piping, manholes, catch basins, storm retention ponds and streambeds.
The Section also provides the first response for sanitary and storm sewer service interruptions. This includes responding to sanitary sewer mains and sewer connection backups. The Section also cleans catch basins (below the surface); and tests and treats storm retention ponds to maintain water quality.
