Collection Procedures for Unpaid Parking Violations

On July 1, 2007, changes to provincial legislation (see link on the left side of the page) resulted in the following enforcement procedures for unpaid parking violations:

  • A parking summons for a court appearance will be mailed to the registered vehicle owner.
  • A default conviction will result if the violator doesn’t appear in court.
  • A late payment charge of $40.00 will be added where a fine is unpaid 30 days following conviction.
  • A lien may be registered on a vehicle where the owner has outstanding convictions, and the fines and late payment charges are in default.
  • The vehicle may be immobilized and/or seized and impounded.
  • The vehicle could be sold at public auction to recover the amount of unpaid fines.

Vehicles may be immobilized (booted) and seized from both public and private property. Fines of $10,000 for individuals or $25,000 for corporations can be issed to anyone who obstructs or interferes with the seizure of a vehicle, or tampers with an immobilization device. The City is not liable for any loss or damage to a vehicle or its contents if the vehicle is seized for outstanding parking fines.

All seized vehicles will be stored at the City's Impound Lot located at 150 Jonathon Avenue in the Holiday Park Industrial Area. Residents may call the Impound Lot 24 hours a day at 657-8526, for information on their impounded vehicle.

Payment Options:

Full payment of outstanding convictions and costs must be made to ensure no further action will be taken. If parking fines and impound fees are paid at City Hall, a receipt indicating full payment will be provided and must be shown in order to retrieve of a seized vehicle from the Impound Lot, located at 150 Jonathon Avenue.

Payment for parking fines can be made online.

Payment for parking fines and impound costs can be made in person at:

  • City Hall (cash or debit only) - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, except holidays; or
  • Impound Lot - 150 Jonathon Avenue (debit or credit card only) - 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, except holidays.

Payment of Warrants of Committal, considered a ‘pay-or-stay’ status, must be paid directly at the Saskatoon Police Station to alleviate any risk of false arrest.
