The City of Saskatoon has been selected as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2012. The award is announced in a special editorial supplement in today’s edition of the Globe and Mail, and online at Eluta.ca.
“As part of our workforce planning initiative, one of our top priorities is to become an inclusive workplace that embraces diverse backgrounds. This award helps us celebrate our efforts and accomplishments to date, while allowing us to measure ourselves against industry best practices.” Employment and Total Compensation Branch Manager, Mubarka Butt says.
This national competition evaluates organizations based on both, qualitative and quantitative, external and internal data and initiatives, as well as leadership on inclusion and diversity practices. In addition, the City was particularly recognized for its community partnerships and initiatives related to recruitment and selection of diversity groups.
A detailed outline appears in the City’s Employer Review on Eluta.ca – a source used by more than 730,000 job-seekers in Canada every month.
“This is a wonderful accomplishment”, says City Manager Murray Totland. “This accolade, along with recently being selected as one of the Saskatchewan top employers, demonstrates the City is making progress towards achieving our goal of creating a culture of continuous improvement. This is one of seven strategic goals in our new Strategic Plan which speaks to being a preferred employer that attracts skilled and talented people from a variety of backgrounds, and the importance of having a diverse workforce that represents the Community we serve.”
