The City of Saskatoon’s next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2012. Residents can drop off their items between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Envirotec, located at 100 Cory Road. (To get to Envirotec, travel north on Idylwyld Drive and Highway 12, and turn right just past Ritchie Bros Auctioneers.)
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day program makes the disposal of hazardous household chemicals and materials more convenient for residents and safe for the environment.
Residents may drop off their materials at Envirotec only on designated Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days. The program will accept household, automotive, lawn and garden chemicals, as well as compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), batteries, pharmaceuticals, and adhesives. Household chemicals must be kept in original containers for identification purposes.
The hazardous waste drop-off dates can also be found on your 2011 and your 2012 Garbage Collection Calendars or online at www.saskatoon.ca (search under “H” for Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days).
A full list of accepted materials can also be found on the website. Remember that paint is not accepted as a part of this program. Household paint and aerosol paint should be dropped off at any SARCAN recycling depot.
Material collected through this program will be reused or recycled whenever possible. This program is open to Saskatoon residents only. No business or commercial products will be accepted.
