Work at the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre continues to progress well, with construction now over 90% complete. Efforts remain focused on advancing final pool work while continuing interior finishing and system coordination in parallel. The project continues to target reopening in fall 2026, with current timelines aligned toward late summer pending completion of testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.
What’s Been Completed So Far
Competition Pool (50 m):
Pool remediation and injection works have largely been completed, with the project advancing toward final watertightness verification prior to pool finishing and commissioning.
Inside the Facility:
Change rooms and interior spaces continue to progress toward completion, including finishes, fixtures and system installations as areas become available.
Building Systems and Mechanical Work:
Mechanical systems installation is well advanced, with coordination underway to transition into final system testing and commissioning.
Building Exterior / Site Work:
Exterior and site works are nearing completion and continue to support overall facility readiness.
What’s Next
In the coming weeks, the focus will be on completing final verification, advancing key installations, and progressing toward full system readiness:
- Finalizing pool testing and advancing to remaining pool finishing activities
- Continuing interior finishes and final installations across the facility
- Advancing commissioning and system integration activities
- Supporting coordination across teams to maintain construction progress
With construction nearing completion, the project is entering its final phase, focused on testing, commissioning, and preparing the facility for safe reopening to the community.

Upgrade & Facility Closure Project
Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre was built in 1975 and many of the components are nearing the end of their functional life.
The project is anticipated to include the following upgrades to the facility:
- Accessibility and inclusivity improvements to ensure the building and its features will be a welcoming space for the entire community.
- Upgrades to the 50-metre pool basin.
- Change room and washroom renovations to better serve customers and families.
- Water treatment and building mechanical system upgrades for improved efficiency.
- Flat roof upgrades including vapor barrier and insulation to increase energy efficiency and air quality.

Programming
The same programs and services will continue to be available at the other 5 Leisure Centres (Cosmo, Lakewood and Lawson Civic Centres, Saskatoon Field House and Shaw Centre) and where possible, programming opportunities have been expanded at the facilities.
