Work at the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre continues to progress, with approximately 88% of construction complete. The project team remains focused on completing remaining pool remediation work while advancing interior finishing and system commissioning activities in parallel. The overall program continues to plan for the facility’s return to operations later in 2026, with September 1, 2026 identified as the current target pending completion of construction, testing, and operational readiness activities.
What’s Been Completed So Far
Competition Pool (50 m):
Work in the competition pool area continues to advance, including targeted waterproofing and concrete remediation activities. Preparatory work is underway to support upcoming staged testing required before final pool finishing and commissioning.
Inside the Facility:
Change rooms and adjacent spaces continue to move through remaining finishing and fit‑out work, including partitions, benches, ceilings, lighting, and mechanical and electrical upgrades as areas become available.
Building Systems and Mechanical Work:
Pool mechanical piping and supporting building systems have advanced significantly. Preparations are underway for staged testing and commissioning of pool and building systems.
Building Exterior / Site Work:
Exterior concrete and related building enclosure work are nearing completion and continue to support overall facility readiness.
What’s Next
In the weeks ahead, the focus will remain on completing remaining pool remediation work and moving through the next major stages of testing, commissioning, and readiness, including:
- Advancing competition pool work to support staged water testing, subsequent pool fill, and commissioning activities
- Continuing remaining interior finishing and system completion across change rooms and adjacent spaces
- Progressing system commissioning and coordination activities to support operational readiness
With construction well advanced, the project is now in a focused phase to complete remaining critical work and move through testing and commissioning so the facility can safely reopen and serve the community.

Upgrade & Facility Closure Project
Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre was built in 1975 and many of the components are nearing the end of their functional life.
The project is anticipated to include the following upgrades to the facility:
- Accessibility and inclusivity improvements to ensure the building and its features will be a welcoming space for the entire community.
- Upgrades to the 50-metre pool basin.
- Change room and washroom renovations to better serve customers and families.
- Water treatment and building mechanical system upgrades for improved efficiency.
- Flat roof upgrades including vapor barrier and insulation to increase energy efficiency and air quality.

Programming
The same programs and services will continue to be available at the other 5 Leisure Centres (Cosmo, Lakewood and Lawson Civic Centres, Saskatoon Field House and Shaw Centre) and where possible, programming opportunities have been expanded at the facilities.
