Evergreen is so named because it was designed to preserve two rows of 50-year-old Scots Pine trees as an urban forest.

Unique in its location, Evergreen is surrounded by a combination of parks, open fields and nature. To the west is the Saskatoon Forestry Farm. To the east and south is land dedicated to agricultural research. To the north is the Northeast Swale, an area preserved as a native prairie remnant and natural wildlife corridor to the South Saskatchewan River valley.

Modelled as a sustainable urban village neighbourhood, care has been taken to properly incorporate a combination of housing choices, open spaces and commercial opportunities in a sensitive and harmonious manner.
Building a home in this environmentally sustainable community gives you a variety of green options. For example, the streets of Evergreen are aligned so the majority of residences receive the full benefit of the sun's rays, providing opportunity to incorporate solar energy into homes.
The urban village design also promotes less vehicle dependence by providing opportunities for residents to engage in commercial, social and entertainment activities inside the neighbourhood without requiring the use of a vehicle. Even the pedestrian bridge linking east to west will be a green extension. This "Green Bridge" will be a gentle rise over McOrmond Drive, providing an open and safe route over traffic.
Where all Trails Meet
In Evergreen, the community is connected by an extensive park and trail system. Stroll, jog, run or pedal—you can traverse the entire community at your leisure!
The trails meet at two locations. The first is the centrally located neighbourhood park next to the proposed site for two elementary schools and a community centre. The second is the Village Square, a central meeting place for the neighbourhood. The Village Square is also the spot to find a quaint group of shops and services conveniently located close to home.
You won’t have to venture far to find larger establishments such as restaurants, grocery stores, gas bars and medical clinics. A commercial area called the District Village is located in the northeast section of Evergreen.
