CPIC Shift Supervisor (Internal)

Department or Division: Saskatoon Police Service

Term: Temporary full-time for approximately seven months


  1. Supervises CPIC Operations and other assigned staff, including training, mentoring and coaching new and existing staff.  Responsible for employee performance appraisals.
  2. Creates and enters court documents on the Justice Automated Information Network (JAIN) for the accused, relating to both young offenders and adults.  This includes Informations, release documents, remand and public interest warrants.
  3. Ensures appropriate charges are laid as per the Criminal Code of Canada or Youth Criminal Justice Act.
  4. Verifies final documents for all court packages to the prosecutor’s office, including retrieving and attaching information from outside agency databases for disclosure to prosecutor’s office for court.
  5. Operates computer terminals and police software systems to enter, confirm, remove, retrieve and revise data and respond to enquiries.  Ensures information is current and accurate.
  6. Responds to enquiries from internal staff including Police Officers and various outside agencies regarding adult and young offender files, charges, court dates, dispositions etc.
  7. Liaises with various external service providers to resolve technical issues.
  8. Corrects CPIC entries.
  9. Processes and maintains sealed files.  Notifies appropriate sections when a file has been sealed.
  10. Prepares and authorizes electronic duty sheets.  Receives employee sick calls and processes appropriate paperwork, determines the need for overtime based on shift workload.
  11. Provides backup support for other various office positions as needed.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Grade 12 education.
  • Graduation from a recognized business college.
  • Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
  • Four years' police office experience, including two years’ current C.P.I.C. experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of current C.P.I.C., J.A.I.N., S.I.M.S., RCMP Web Terminal and C.O.P.S. Police computer systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of Criminal Code and Provincial statutes.
  • Considerable knowledge of Police procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to supervise, delegate work and train new employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skill in the operation of office equipment, including police computer terminals and a computer.

Salary: $4,805.48 to $5,298.04 per month (2016 rates)
