2020 Civic Election: Midday Winter Storm Update for Voters

The Election Office is grateful to have nearly six hundred dedicated poll workers who have been working tirelessly to get to and open polling locations for the 2020 Civic Election. To them we owe our most heartfelt thanks on what is a very challenging and stressful situation for everyone.

As of 12 noon 63 of 65 locations are open, some polls opened at 8 a.m. and others continued to open through the morning. Updates are found on

With the announcement from the provincial government to allow local returning officers to postpone an election, the Election Office continues to explore viable options under the Ministerial Order. An announcement from Scott Bastian, Returning Officer, is expected early this afternoon.

Polling locations for the 2020 Civic Election are scheduled to be open until 8:00 p.m.

Mail-In Ballot Drop-Off Closed at Leisure Centres

In response to the winter storm, mail-in ballot drop-offs at leisure centres have been closed. Leisure centres are closed today. However, voters are able to drop off their completed mail-in ballot at any polling location across the city.
