2020 Saskatoon Civic Election: Candidate information session October 5, official nominations close October 7

An information session is being held Monday, October 5 for candidates running for mayor, councillor, and public and Catholic school board trustee for the 2020 Saskatoon civic election. Presentations will be made by key city staff. To reduce the risk of transmitting the COVID-19 virus, the candidate information session will be held virtually.

Electronic invitations will be sent to candidates who have submitted their completed nomination forms. If you are interested in running for mayor, councillor, public school board trustee, or Catholic school board trustee and looking for more information before submitting your nomination papers, contact the election office at 306-657-8683 or elections@saskatoon.ca to be added to the invitation list.

The official candidate nomination period will end Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Candidates who wish to withdraw have until 4:00 p.m. on October 8 to do so.

By appointment only, nomination forms will continue to be received by the Returning Officer at the 2020 Saskatoon Civic Election Office at 226 Cardinal Crescent as follows:

Friday, October 2
8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Monday, October 5 & Tuesday, October 6
8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Wednesday, October 7
8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Candidate nomination forms must be accompanied by a deposit of $100.00 in cash, cheque or money order, payable to the City of Saskatoon. Candidates for mayor and councillor are required to submit completed public disclosure forms (new for the 2020 municipal election). Candidates for both public and Catholic school trustee are required to submit a criminal record and vulnerable sector check. Nomination deposits will be returned to candidates once they have filed a statutory declaration per The Campaign Disclosure and Spending Limits Bylaw.
