Annual tree maintenance begins in Central Business District, Riversdale, Eastview and Greystone Heights
Starting today, Tuesday, September 10, 2019, crews will begin pruning trees on civic property in the Central Business District and Riversdale as part of the City’s Boulevard Tree Maintenance Program. Pruning will begin in Eastview and Greystone Heights at a date still to be determined.
The Boulevard Tree Maintenance Program follows a regular pruning cycle to help preserve the health and appearance of the City’s tree inventory. Maintenance crews will remove any broken, dead, weak and diseased branches. Crews will also remove any tree parts that are obstructing pedestrian or vehicle traffic and maintain appropriate clearances from buildings, signs, streetlights and utility wires.
Tree maintenance operations in these four neighbourhoods will continue until December 13, 2019.
Tree maintenance often requires road restrictions. The City reminds pedestrians, cyclists and drivers to ensure safety is a priority by respecting work zones and obeying all road restrictions and signage.
