City Compost Depots set to open
The City’s two compost depots will open Monday, April 16, 2018.
Residents are invited to drop off leaves, grass, sod, topsoil, garden refuse, and non-elm branches, stumps and tree trimmings at both of the City’s compost depots at no cost. This helps keep yard waste out of the Landfill and produces a high quality, nutrient-rich product that is used to keep Saskatoon parks and community gardens healthy and beautiful.
This same compost and mulch will be offered to residents for free while supplies last. Residents are invited to load their own compost and mulch from the West Compost Depot, located at Highway 7 and 11th Street. Residents are asked to check in with the gate attendant for directions. All loads must be covered when transported within City limits to prevent debris from blowing off vehicles.
A reminder that City Compost Depots do NOT accept elm wood, sawdust, treated and untreated lumber, building materials, garbage, or any animal waste/litter. Food waste is also NOT accepted for drop off at the compost depots, but can be placed in Green Carts or composted at home.
For some residents, the East Compost Depot located on the Highway 5 service road may be more convenient. Please check the hours of operation for each site before heading out.
