Today, City Council passed Bylaw No. 9484 The Fire and Protective Services Amendment Bylaw, 2018 to amend Bylaw No. 7990, The Fire and Protectives Services, 2001 to prohibit open-air fires outside the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.

What you can expect from us

  • Effective today, this new regulation, along with others outlined in Bylaw No. 7990, will be enforced by the Saskatoon Fire Department.

How you can help us

  • Burn responsibly, respectfully and safely by following the Bylaw regulations. For more information, including fire pit safety tips, visit saskatoon.ca/firepits.
  • Consider talking to your neighbours to let them know when you plan to build a fire, in case their health may be adversely affected by open-air fire smoke in your neighbourhood.
  • Consider switching to a cleaner burning alternative: natural gas or propane.

Good neighbours help to build a great city where everyone can enjoy quality of life outdoors.
