COVID-19 Daily update on changes to programs and services

The City is doing its part to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases in Saskatoon. We have made many staffing and service changes so our employees can safely deliver services to residents and to make sure people remain physically apart from one another. This way we can all work together by staying apart – it will protect the health of essential frontline healthcare staff, core service workers and first-responders. These actions in turn protect all of us. 

Update: Summer Play Program, Paddling Pools & Spray Pads 

Many Paddling Pools & Spray Pads across Saskatoon are now open this summer in full compliance with the guidelines and restrictions as required by the Chief Medical Health Officer and regulated under the Government of Saskatchewan’s Re-Open Saskatchewan plan: 

Spray Pads 

All Spray Pad locations offer water play daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. until September 7.   
It is important to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 while using the spray pad by following these guidelines: 

  • Do not use the spray pad if you are sick.  

  • Stay 2 metres apart at all times from those not in your group.  

  • Your group must not exceed the restrictions on public gatherings.  

  • Wash or sanitize your hands before and after using the spray pad.  

  • If spray pad area is busy, come back when it is not as busy.

New! White Buffalo Youth Lodge will operate a free drop-in program at Pleasant Hill spray pad (220 Avenue U S) from July 20 to August 21:  

Monday-Thursday: 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 
Friday: 12:00 - 4:30 p.m. 

Summer Play Program & Paddling Pools 

A number of locations are currently open, details are updated on saskatoon.ca/play. Please note that there are no games, arts or crafts offered as part of the Summer Play Program this year - it is currently limited to water play at the paddling pools. Admission is FREE! 
Dates of Operation: July 15-August 25. Closed on the Aug 3 stat and when there is inclement weather. 

Hours of Operation 

In order to maintain safe physical distancing, designated pool times are scheduled through the day, Monday to Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., as follows: 

Monday – Thursday: 

Group #1 – 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. 

Group #2 – 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. 

Group #3 – 1:15 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. 

Group #4 – 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

Group #5 – 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Friday: 

Group #1  12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. 

Group #2  1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. 

Group #3 – 2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. 

Group #4 – 3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.  
Fill and drain times vary per paddling pool, check with staff on site to confirm water times.  To maintain water quality pool chemicals will be tested regularly.  During chemical additions participants will play outside the fenced area with a Play Program leader. 

Maximum group capacity is 25 participants. You do not need to register ahead of time. 

Know before you go! Protect yourself and others from COVID-19 by following these guidelines for the Summer Play Program/Paddling Pools: 

  • Children 13 years or younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian 14 years or older 

  • Children under six must stay within arms-reach of parent/guardian at all times. Maximum two children per caregiver 

  • Do not come to the Summer Play Program, or send your children, if you or they are sick. 

  • Always stay 2 metres apart from those not in your group. 

  • Wash or sanitize your hands regularly, especially after touching shared surfaces. 

  • Follow ALL instructions from staff and on signage 

  • Bring own seating (such as a lawn chair or blanket) and water to drink 

  • Washrooms are available with physical distancing requirements in place.
