Avenue H N will be closed between 32nd and 33rd streets to repair a water connection starting Friday, January 22, at 7:00 a.m. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone. This project is expected to take two days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Saskatoon Transit will be donating unclaimed lost and found clothing to Village Green Thrift Shop, a non-profit shop who will make them available to those in need. Village Green puts out clothes on certain evenings when the weather is cold for those in need to help themselves. Due to COVID-19 they follow the guidelines and quarantine everything for 24 hours before items are sold or given away.

January 20, 2021 - 3:00pm

High winds are causing drifting snow resulting in snow accumulation, icy conditions on roadways, intersections, and sidewalks, and reduced visibility around the City.  Crews are clearing snow at locations where snow has drifted onto the roadway, monitoring high traffic roads, and applying de-icing material as required.

Access to the off-leash recreation area north of Hampton Village is restricted due to reoccurring drifting snow closing Junor Avenue and Whelan Road.

January 20, 2021 - 12:32pm

Tree trimming will take place in parts of City Park starting tomorrow, Thursday, January 21. Closures will begin daily at 7:30 a.m.  This project is expected to take four days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances. 
Access to sidewalks around work zones will be restricted while this work is underway. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zones where needed. 

January 20, 2021 - 11:00am

A Saskatoon Access Transit bus and a Canadian Pacific Train collided around 7:45 a.m. this morning at a crossing on 20th Street West; Access Transit is grateful there are no reported injuries.

 

The operator had parked near Station 20 West to help a passenger off. Another passenger remained on the bus.

Are you interested in operating a business in a Saskatoon park? The City is now accepting applications from those wishing to operate a seasonal commercial enterprise (SCE) that supports sport, recreation and/or cultural events or opportunities. 

The deadline for applications for the for the May 1 to October 31, 2021 season is February 15, 2021.  Application packages are available at www.saskatoon.ca/sce. The November 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 season application deadline is August 15, 2021.

The City of Saskatoon is now accepting registrations for the 2021 Green Cart program. The Green Cart Program offers convenient front-street collection of yard and food waste every two weeks from May 3 to November 5, 2021. Current Black Cart (garbage) and Blue Cart (recycling) customers are eligible for this optional subscription program.

Saskatoon residents woke up to a snow-covered city this morning. City crews are out grading snow from high-traffic roads following overnight snowfall.

Streets, bridge decks, freeway ramps, overpasses and high-traffic intersections may be icy, and snow packed. Drivers should slow down, use caution and allow for extra time to reach their destination.
