COVID-19 update on changes to programs and services

For immediate release: December 2, 2020 - 3:42pm

The City is doing its part slow the spread of COVID-19 cases in Saskatoon. We have made many staffing and service changes so our employees can safely deliver services to residents and to make sure people remain physically apart from one another. This way we can all work together by staying apart – it will protect the health of essential frontline healthcare staff, core service workers and first-responders. These actions in turn protect all of us.

Leisure Centres - Fitness and Weight Rooms

As a result of continuing discussions and clarification from the Government of Saskatchewan’s Business Response Team on the recent public health measures that went into effect on November 27, further changes are to be implemented at Leisure Centres on December 3:

  • The fitness and weight rooms currently open at Shaw Centre, Saskatoon Field House and Lakewood Civic Centre will have a room monitor or fitness consultant in attendance to provide education on proper cleaning procedures and assist with equipment sanitization. All machines will be disinfected by the weight room monitor after each use, even if the patron wipes it down.
  • The fitness and weight room at Lakewood Civic Centre will be operating under revised hours to accommodate staffing of a room monitor. Revised hours will be: Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.; Saturday:  9:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Sunday: 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Drop-in programs are being offered in timed sessions to manage capacity limits and allow for necessary physical distancing. Sessions include entry and exit times and session breaks allow for cleaning and sanitization of common areas. Pre-booking is available up to two days in advance. Visit and select the “Book a Visit Option” or call 306-975-2855. New sessions open for booking daily at 9 a.m.
