Expect delays starting Monday: one-way traffic on Highway 5
Traffic heading into and out of the City on Highway 5 can expect delays starting Monday, August 19 as resurfacing work gets underway.
Temporary signal lights will be in place on the east and west sides of the intersection of Highway 5 and Range Road 3043 (city limits) allowing one-way traffic only through the area while the work takes place. The signals will be in place for approximately five days, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Work will extend into the evenings and overnight to minimize disruptions to drivers. However, drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible, or plan for delays.
The second phase of resurfacing in the westbound lanes will continue through the intersection of highways 5 and 41 into the City towards the CP Rail overpass. This phase is anticipated to begin in early September and last until the end of the 2019 construction season.
Saskatoon Transit will continue to operate as scheduled. Transit service alerts, regarding detours or temporary bus stop closures, and real-time bus locations are available on third party apps like Transit and Google Transit on desktop.
