First snow event declared to clean up priority streets

For immediate release: October 28, 2019 - 4:32pm

Almost six centimetres of snow fell in Saskatoon since Sunday afternoon, with potential for more snow overnight Monday. The City is declaring a snow event, which means contract graders will be called in to assist clearing all priority streets within the next 72 hours.

City crews already cleared 22nd Street, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive and 8th Street, and are making good progress on Circle Drive and other expressways.

Sanding and salting is also occurring on overpasses, bridges, busy intersections, and icy sections of road.

Please slow down and watch for blue and amber flashing lights that signal winter maintenance equipment is ahead. When safe to do so, drivers can report icy locations to the 24-hour Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476 or email
