DON’T GET STUCK WITH A STUFFED CART THIS SEASON!

With the holiday season upon us, the City of Saskatoon would like to make residents aware of some important information regarding waste and recycling collection services.

There will be no additional garbage (black cart) collection this Christmas, as offered in previous years. This decision to discontinue extra post-Christmas collection was made by City Council in September 2017. This will reduce greenhouse gas emissions produced by our fleet and will result in a savings of $25,000 annually.

In observance of Christmas (Tuesday, December 25th) and New Year’s Day (Tuesday, January 1st) there will be no garbage or recycling collection offered on these days. If these are your regular collection days, your cart will be collected on the following dates:

  • Garbage (Black Cart)
    • Tuesday, December 25th collections have been moved ahead to Saturday, December 29th
    • Tuesday, January 1st collections have been moved back to Sunday, December 30th
  • Recycling (Blue Cart)
    • Tuesday, December 25th collections have been moved ahead to Saturday, December 29th
    • Tuesday, January 1st collections have been moved ahead to Saturday, January 5th

Residents are encouraged to check their collection calendar to ensure they roll out their carts on the correct day. Residents are also reminded that the City will not be mailing out personalized collection calendars in 2019. Collections schedules can be found at saskatoon.ca/collectioncalendar, where residents can sign up for reminders, download the Saskatoon Recycle & Waste app, or print their own.
