City Council, at its regular business meeting held on March 25, 2019 voted to pursue a moderate phase-in option as presented by the Administration regarding the implementation of the curbside organics program and funding for existing waste services.

At its meeting held on March 25, 2019, City Council approved new electrical rate charges for Saskatoon Light & Power Service as a result of the changes to charges collected by SaskPower.

Traffic lights at two intersections along Highway 16 will be temporarily replaced with 4-way stops on Wednesday, March 27 while traffic signal equipment is being replaced.

The City’s Neighbourhood Traffic Review (NTR) program has been selected as the 2019 recipient of the Exceptional Engineering/Geoscience Project Award by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). The award recognizes accomplishments in engineering and/or geoscience.

Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo (Zoo) grizzly bears, Mistaya (miss‑TIE’‑yuh) and Koda (KOH’ dah) are ready for spring.  The resident grizzly bears have successfully completed their third hibernation and will be returning to the Kinsmen Grizzly Bear Exhibit next week. Make sure to stop by and say hello!

Admission to the Zoo is by donation until March 31. The Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the end of April and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting in May.

Direct service from the Special Events Stop (outside the 2nd Avenue Lofts at 23rd Street and 2nd Avenue) to see the Saskatoon Blades vs. the Moose Jaw Warriors during the 2019 WHL Playoffs, Round 1, at SaskTel Centre on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, 2019 is available at the following times:

  • 5:45 p.m.
  • 6:15 p.m.
  • 6:45 p.m.

Post event drop-off is the downtown terminal.

Regular fares apply ($3.00 per trip). Transfers and passes are also accepted.

As temperatures warm and with spring officially here today, City crews continue removing snow to help reduce drainage issues, dry up roads and prepare for spring street sweeping and pothole repairs.

Fewer potholes are expected this year if roads continue to dry up in conjunction with a slower spring melt. This is partly because of City Council’s multi-million dollar investments in road rehabilitation and protective maintenance over the past several years.
