Lane and ramp restrictions overnights on Circle Drive South and 1st Avenue for seasonal crack filling
Over the next few weeks, crews will be crack filling sections of roadways around the city including Circle Drive and 1st Avenue North.
Starting tonight and continuing for the next few nights, crews will be working on the northbound lanes of Circle Drive South between Taylor Street and Attridge Drive. Circle Drive will remain open at all times with some lane restrictions and speed reductions. Ramp restrictions and very short ramp closures (less than 1 hour) can be expected on some northbound exit and access ramps at Taylor Street, 8th Street, and Attridge Drive.
To limit the impact to drivers, some parts of the crack filling project will be completed overnight when traffic volumes are lighter. Night work will start after 6 p.m. with roadways reopening before 6 a.m. the next day barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Other projects will be completed during the day. 1st Avenue will be closed this Sunday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Crack filling is a fast moving project that is usually done in the fall as more moderate temperatures are required to complete this work. Crack filling is impacted by moisture and this work will need to be rescheduled in the event of rain.
Signs will be in place around this moving detour, advising drivers of the upcoming road restrictions. Police escorts may also be present to ensure safety and compliance.
