Reminder: A city-wide notifynow TEST message will be sent this morning!

For immediate release: December 4, 2019 - 7:00am
FR19-897

The Saskatoon Emergency Management Organization (EMO) will send Saskatoon residents a TEST message from the notifynow public safety notification
system this morning,
 Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. - or shortly thereafter.

We ask residents to sign-up for notifynow. Why do we do this?

notifynow cannot reach you if you have not visited saskatoon.ca/notifynow to indicate how you want to receive your public safety notification messages.

Signing-up lets you choose your preferred communication method – any or all of the choices below:

  • Text message (SMS, any provider)
  • Voice call to your cell phone
  • Voice call to your landline
  • Email

However - if you do have a publicly-available phone number you may still receive the notifynow TEST message as these phone numbers may already be in the notifynow database. If you have an unlisted telephone number you can subscribe it.

Notifynow also lets you sign-up to receive public safety notifications for up to five addresses that are important to you. For example, your child’s school, grandparent’s home, or your place of business.

The EMO tests the notifynow public safety notification system twice a year to help familiarize Saskatoon residents with how a notifynow message would arrive in the event of a city-wide emergency, or one affecting only your neighbourhood.

Notifynow is a free service provided by the City of Saskatoon.

If you haven’t done so, tell notifynow how to best reach you with trusted and timely public safety notifications.
