Road closures for resurfacing work in Kelsey-Woodlawn
Weather permitting, the City will undertake overnight (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) resurfacing work in the area of Kelsey-Woodlawn this week. Roadways will reopen during the day with speed reductions.
The dates and locations for this work are as follows:
- June 4 & 5: 39th Street between Idylwyld Drive and Quebec Avenue
- June 5 & 6: Ontario Avenue between 36th Street and 39th Street
- June 6 & 7: 36th Street between Idylwyld Drive and Quebec Avenue
While overnight work is underway, the roadways under construction will be completely closed to traffic. Signage will advise road users to take an alternate route. When the roadways under construction open for the day, road users are reminded to use caution as driving surfaces will be rough.
Resurfacing involves the removal of the top layer of deteriorated asphalt followed by repaving with fresh asphalt. The end result is a smooth, ‘like new’ road surface.
For updates on construction projects anytime, refer to the Road Restrictions and Construction Projects interactive map. Road users are reminded to reduce speeds, stay alert and mind posted signage and barriers when encountering a construction zone.
