Weekend road closures planned for major roadways

For immediate release: July 6, 2018 - 11:20am
TU18-419

This weekend several priority one roadways will be closed for construction. This work is being done over the weekend, during non-peak traffic times to limit the impact to road users, however these projects will still have a significant impact on traffic flows. Road users are encouraged to reroute their commute over the weekend whenever possible.

Preston Avenue will be closed northbound from Circle Drive to Arlington Avenue and southbound from Jarvis Drive to Wilson Crescent starting Saturday at 7 a.m. until Sunday afternoon. NOTE: There will be no access to Preston Avenue from Circle Drive.

Idylwyld Drive South southbound lanes at 8th Street will be closed Sunday (July 8) from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. All southbound traffic must use the 8th Street exit ramp. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic.

First Avenue North will be closed from 26th Street East to Queen Street on Saturday and Sunday (July 7 and 8) from 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The intersection at Avenue H and 29th Street will be closed because of watermain replacement work for approximately two weeks starting Saturday (July 7) at 9 a.m.

This construction will impact Transit routes. Plan your bus route in advance online at Saskatoontransit.ca or on your mobile device with the real-time Google Maps or Transit App.
