YXE gearing up for Bike to Work Day!
The City of Saskatoon is reminding residents that Wednesday, May 16, 2018 is Bike to Work Day YXE: an annual initiative that encourages and celebrates biking to work. As well, some Saskatoon schools are hosting a Bike to School Day on the same day. Road users can expect to see a greater number of people, including school age children, on bicycles.
Those intending to make biking a part of their commute should note the following:
- If you live too far from work/school to bike directly, consider taking the bus part of the way. Trip plan using the mobile apps: Transit or Google Transit. All buses are equipped with front bike racks that are free and surprisingly easy to use.
- Between 7 and 9 a.m. on May 16th, participating local businesses and organizations will have bike stations set up around the city. Anyone on a bicycle is invited to make a stop for coffee, giveaways, or a chance to win prizes.
- The City of Saskatoon is hosting two bike stations: one behind City Hall/Civic Square at the corner of 4th Avenue and 23rd Street, and the other outside the main entrance to the Field House. Snap a photo of your stop at one of the City booths and post it with a tag to @cityofsaskatoon to be entered in a prize draw.
