The City’s fifth accessible playground, located at Ashworth Holmes Park in the Caswell Hill neighbourhood (near Avenue F North and 30th Street West), will officially open on Sunday, September 10 with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening at 2:40 p.m.

Repairs to the Circle Drive bridge deck over Idylwyld Drive will start this Friday, September 8th, 2017.  Work will be completed in phases over 2 days, barring unforeseen circumstances or weather delays. Where possible, this work is being done at night to limit the impact to motorists.  Access between Idylwyld Drive and Circle Drive will be maintained throughout construction.

The City’s Recreation and Community Development Division, in partnership with Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan, Sask Sport Inc., and Women in Sport - Physical Activity & Recreation, will be hosting Play Like a Girl on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the SaskTel Sports Centre (150 Nelson Road).  Registrations are still being accepted for this free one-day event for girls, ages 10 to 14. 

Test your agility, and experience the sports of football, wrestling, and wheelchair basketball with world class athletes and coaches who will lead the day.

A community-wide Curbside Swap will take place on Saturday, September 9. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., residents are encouraged to place unwanted items in good condition - clearly marked FREE - on their curbs for anyone to pick up.

New for 2017: Residents can now promote their Curbside Swap by listing their location and item details on the NEW listing service at saskatoon.ca/curbsideswap.

Kinsmen Play Village, located off 25th Street East near PotashCorp Playland in Kinsmen Park, has re-opened following the replacement of the rubberized play surface.  The improved surface creates a safer, more enjoyable space for residents.  This work is part of the Kinsmen Park Master Plan, and will also include new landscaping as part of the revitalization of the park area.

City Council recently directed its Administration to move forward with developing options for a city-wide organics program to help keep valuable resources out of the landfill.

“Organics represents our single biggest opportunity to reach our target of diverting 70 per cent of our waste from the landfill,” says Brenda Wallace, Director of Environmental and Corporate Initiatives. “This approval is an important next step. We will be launching a series of community discussions in the fall to gather input on the design of our future organics program.”

Resurfacing of ramps at Circle Drive and Warman Road will start Thursday, September 9, 2017.  Due to safety concerns, this work will not be completed at night.  Work is expected to last 4 days, with 2 days of road closures, barring unforeseen circumstances or weather delays.
