With the full impacts of the construction season upon us, it’s more important than ever that Saskatoon drivers are remaining patient, alert and cautious when navigating work zones. It’s easy to grow frustrated when encountering construction delays and detours, but the City of Saskatoon and Saskatoon Police Service are sending a message that any driver behaviour that disrespects workers or compromises safety will not be tolerated.

There will be concrete curb work happening at the new Traffic Bridge the morning of Friday, July 28 from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. The concrete work will go ahead weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances. Pouring concrete in the early hours of the day helps large pours as the temperature is cooler and humidity is lower.

The City would like to thank nearby residents and businesses for their understanding and patience during construction of the Traffic Bridge, which is part of the Bridging to Tomorrow Project.

The City of Saskatoon is moving forward with implementation of its Growth Plan to Half a Million.  In preparation for a public launch in fall 2017, Saskatoon City Council today awarded contracts for the planning and design of the City’s future Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, and city-wide Growth Plan Engagement. 

At its July 26 meeting, City Council approved the award of two contracts:

This Thursday night, a four phase resurfacing project will begin on Idylwyld Drive South between Taylor Street and Idylwyld Bridge. 

This project will involve lane restrictions, road closures, night work and at times 24-hour work to coordinate with water and sewer upgrades.

The City of Saskatoon is accepting applications for vacancies on the Board of Revision.

The Board of Revision is a quasi-judicial Board that hears and determines appeals arising from assessment procedures in accordance with Section 197 of The Cities Act.  Appointees to the Board also may serve on the Saskatoon License Appeal Board.  The Saskatoon License Appeal Board deals with appeals related to licenses issued under The Business License Bylaw, 2002, The License Bylaw, and The Adult Services Licensing Bylaw, 2012.

A section of Lorne Avenue between 4th Street and 7th Street will be closed to traffic for water and sewer work starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25. This work is part of the City’s 2017 Water Main, Sanitary Lining and Lead Water Pipe Replacement Initiative.
