Artwork Unveiling: Chinese Ting

Community, Culture & Heritage

- 3:46 am

Victoria Park (Best access is along Spadina Crescent south of the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market)

The City, together with the Saskatoon Zhongshan Ting Committee, invites the public to view the new Chinese Ting artwork in Victoria Park.

The Chinese Ting has been donated by the committee as a commemoration of the first Chinese immigrants and their contributions to early Saskatoon.  Typically found in parks near bodies of water, a Ting is a pillared structure with an open concept; an aesthetically pleasing art which offers beautiful views of the natural surroundings.  They are used as a place of reflection, celebrations, and a place to say goodbye to old friends.
