COVID-19 Response: Outdoor Pools

Riversdale & George Ward Pools Open for the Season on July 7 & 8

Just in time to beat the heat, two City outdoor pools will open for public swimming this summer!  Riversdale Pool will open on July 7 and George Ward Pool will open July 8, in full compliance with the guidelines and restrictions as required by the Chief Medical Health Officer and regulated under the Government of Saskatchewan’s Re-Open Saskatchewan plan.

To keep everyone safe while allowing as many people to enjoy the pools this season, swimming will be limited to 2-hour sessions, including admission and exit times. There will be a 30-minute break between each session to allow our staff to clean common areas.  Hours and details are listed below.

Your swim session can be booked up to 2 days in advance by calling 306-975-2855 starting at 9:00 a.m. daily.  Online booking for these times will be available soon, check this page for updates. There will be a limited number of walk-in spots available each session, but please keep in mind there may be line-ups so pre-booking is encouraged.

Know before you go! Protect yourself and others from COVID-19 while using outdoor pools by following these guidelines:

  • Do not come to the pool if you are sick.
  • Always stay 2 metres apart from those not in your group.
  • Wash or sanitize your hands regularly, especially after touching shared surfaces.
  • Follow instructions while at the pool from staff and on signage.
  • Bring your own seating (such as a lawn chair or blanket) and water to drink.
  • Washrooms and change rooms are available with physical distancing requirements in place.
  • You must be 14 years of age to attend without parents or guardians.

Red Cross swim lessons will not be offered at the outdoor pools to allow the public as many public swimming opportunities as possible during this shortened season.
