Proposal
The Planning and Development Department has received an application from Dream Development (the applicant) proposing to rezone land in the Brighton Neighbourhood to accommodate future residential development.
The subject land is located in the southwest portion of Brighton and includes a portion of asokanihkēw Crescent and asokanihkēw Place. The area is currently undeveloped and zoned FUD – Future Urban Development District.
The applicant is proposing to rezone the land to R1B – Low Density Residential District 1B and R2 – Low Density Residential District 2, as shown on the map below. The proposed rezoning to R1B District would facilitate small lot residential development in the form of one- to four-unit dwellings as well as related community uses. The proposed rezoning to R2 District would facilitate residential development in the form of one- to four-unit dwellings as well as related community uses. The proposed rezoning is in alignment with the approved Brighton Neighbourhood Concept Plan land use map, which designates this area for single unit/semi unit detached dwellings.
