Saskatoon’s Affordable Housing Strategy
Saskatoon is committed to ensuring that all residents have access to safe, affordable and suitable housing. The Saskatoon Housing Strategy is a comprehensive plan designed to address the diverse housing needs of the community, promote sustainable development and enhance residents’ overall quality of life.
Housing Needs Assessment
In 2024, a Housing Needs Assessment was conducted to gather detailed information about the current housing situation in Saskatoon. The assessment involved:
- Data Collection: Gathering quantitative and qualitative data on housing conditions, availability, affordability and demand.
- Community Engagement: Conducting surveys, interviews and public consultations to understand the specific needs and preferences of residents.
- Analysis: Evaluating the data to identify gaps, challenges and opportunities in the housing market.
The results from the Housing Needs Assessment will identify priorities to help shape the new Affordable Housing Strategy.
2025 Housing Strategy
The City of Saskatoon’s new Affordable Housing Strategy, influenced by the Housing Needs Assessment, is planned to be presented to the Council in Fall 2025. This strategy will outline the City's approach to addressing housing challenges and improving the overall housing landscape.
Updates on the development and implementation of the housing strategy will be provided on this page as they become available.
