Winter Walking & Snow Clearing
To help improve public safety and mobility, the Sidewalk Clearing Bylaw, No. 8463, requires snow and ice be removed from City sidewalks within 48 hours of a snowfall for sidewalks next to residential properties, and within 24 hours for sidewalks next to non-residential properties. These requirements apply only to City sidewalks that border private property and do not include snow clearing on private property themselves. When removing snow, property owners/occupants are expected to place the snow on private property to help maintain proper street drainage and ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers.
To report an uncleared City sidewalk, please fill out our online form.
Be a good neighbour
If your neighbour is elderly or has health or mobility restrictions, please consider helping by clearing the sidewalks bordering their property. When clearing City sidewalks, please use caution and take extra care, especially during periods of extreme cold.
