Christmas Tree Composting
Don't send your Christmas Tree to the landfill. Take it to a City drop-off site so it can be chipped and composted or used as mulch.
Drop-off Sites (December 26 - January 31*)
-
George Ward Pool parking lot: 1915 5th St E & Grosvenor Avenue
-
Holiday Park Golf Course parking lot: 1630 Avenue U South
-
Lawson Heights Recycling Depot: Primrose Drive by the Lawson Civic Centre
-
Wildwood Golf Course parking lot: 4050 8th Street East
-
University Heights Recycling Depot: Ludlow Street & Lowe Road
*If you missed out on these drop-off days and still have your Christmas tree at home, please bring it to one of the City's Compost Depots!
Reminders
-
Live (natural) trees only. Artificial trees should be sold, donated, or disposed of at the Landfill.
-
Trees should be unwrapped and unbound.
-
Remove all decorations, ornaments, and plastic bags before dropping off your tree. Even small bits of tinsel or plastic can impact the quality of the wood chips.
-
The City will not pick up trees from back lanes, street fronts, or garbage and recycling carts.
