What We Are Asking

The Fringe Festival has been hosted on or around Broadway Avenue since 1990. A parking permit area for the Fringe Festival has been in place every year since 2007, with parking area boundaries remaining mostly unchanged since that time. In 2023 we heard from community members that considerations for parking, including the parking area, should be reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of the surrounding community and residents. Therefore the City is looking for feedback on how we can improve parking during the Fringe festival for residents and the surrounding community. Throughout our engagement we are looking for feedback on:

• The Fringe Festival parking area boundaries
• Parking permits for commercial units
• Hours for parking restrictions

How You Can Get Involved

From August – September 2024, the City will be engaging the surrounding community, including residents, businesses and property owners, on a review of parking considerations for the Fringe Festival. Engagement feedback, along with internal City considerations, will be provided to City Council in late 2024.

What is the Project About?

The current Fringe Festival Parking Area is bound by Saskatchewan Crescent East to the north, Victoria Avenue to the west, 8th Street to the south and Lansdowne Avenue to the east. The boundary was adjusted in 2023 to include the 800 Block of 11^th Street East, based on research gathered during the 2022 Fringe Festival. 

City Council has asked for a review of the Fringe Festival Parking Area boundary to determine whether it meets the needs of residents and businesses in the area.

What is the Proposed New Boundary?

The Fringe Festival Parking Area boundary could be changed to a 2-block area around the Festival’s current location in Graham Park. A proposed boundary would be bound by Saskatchewan Crescent East to the north, Victoria Avenue to the west, Main Street to the south, and Albert Street to the east.
