Commercial Garbage Collection
The City of Saskatoon provides garbage collection for the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) sector. Local businesses and organization can determine their preferred garbage collection frequency - weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or on-call – along with the appropriate container size to meet their needs.
Types of commercial carts and bins
We collect a variety of different containers:
- Large (360L/100G) Black Cart
- Extra-large (1,200L/300G) Bin
- Front-end Loading Bin (2, 3, 4, 6 and 8-cubic yard sizes)
All customers are required to provide their own garbage containers.
Black carts are available for rent from the City. Metal bins on the other hand, must be owned, purchased and maintained by building property owners, managers, or condominium associations.
What you can expect from us
- The City provides collection of garbage containers using automated trucks.
How you can help us
- Bag and tie all garbage before putting in your garbage containers.
- No recyclables, hazardous waste or liquids.
- No furniture, oversized materials or construction waste.
- Do not park in front of garbage containers. Carts should be placed with a minimum of 4 feet of space between them and from any other objects or obstructions. (ex. Vehicles, fences)
- Ensure the garbage container is unlocked by 7:00 a.m.
- Overfilled containers (too full/ waste around the carts).
What goes in your garbage container?
Use your garbage container for all non-recyclable and non-hazardous household garbage including Styrofoam, food wrappers, plastic containers without a recycling symbol and other mixed material packaging. Use the Waste Wizard tool to find out what goes in your garbage container.
